The accolade was awarded in the category of ‘Intangible Heritage, including Festivals, for Sustainable Cultural Tourism. This award shines a glowing light on the 32 community-led festivals throughout the year in the region and the volunteers behind them.

The award was presented at a prestigious ceremony held at Dublin Castle. DPTA was proudly represented by Caroline Boland (DPTA) and Niamh O’Kennedy (Dingle Food Festival). The pair are pictured above accepting the award on behalf of the Dingle Peninsula.

This award celebrates the vibrant cultural heritage of the Dingle Peninsula, where the calendar is filled year-round with festivals and events. These festivals and events celebrate the arts, fitness, food, music, language and the unique spirit of the community. These gatherings highlight the region’s dedication to preserving and promoting local culture while inviting visitors to experience the richness of local traditions.

This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of festival organisers, volunteers and the enthusiastic support of our local communities. Their efforts make each event a success and contribute to the thriving cultural landscape that defines the Dingle Peninsula.
