An eco and regenerative small and sustainable family business, specialising in luxury Shepherds’ Huts accommodation, wild food foraging and event centre in South Carlow.

Blackstairs Eco Trails is located in the charming village of Borris, Co. Carlow. Blackstairs is home to cosy shepherds’ huts ideally situated just 50 metres from the main barn where you will find all the facilities you require.

The grounds are home to a wild flower meadow and a classical old rose garden. Yes, it really is as beautiful as it sounds! The incredible sights and sounds of a large array of wildlife are something you won’t want to miss. Perhaps this is one of the reasons Blackstairs Eco Trails was featured in the Irish Times top 100 places to stay in Ireland in 2017 and again in the Irish Independent’s Fab 50 in 2019.

Blackstairs Eco Trails foster slow walking, star gazing, stays in their Homely Huts, Foraging and Fungi Workshops and relaxing Team Building Events and Celtic Tree Trails. All their events are eco-related and involve the wonderful wildlife and biodiversity of the area. Their land is free from pesticides and chemicals and they have planted over 10,000 native Oak trees to increase local wildlife. They make a conscious effort to protect wildlife while making their home and business a warm, welcoming and holistic venue for those visiting.

Our top sustainability achievement is creating 16 acre of woods, lake, river, streams and rewilding on our holding.
